Computer Science, Applied Maths and Stat Phys gathered to model dense crowds: Second MADRAS meeting


What skills should one gather to develop and implement innovative models for crowd dynamics?

The answer most probably depends on the type of crowd-related problems that you want to address. In the French-German MADRAS project was that, to model the dynamics of dense crowds in large gatherings (e.g., festivals or sports events), physicists, applied mathematicians and computer scientists acquainted with behavioural modelling would be a good starting point, even though the behavioural changes observed at the level of the individual in some circumstances can hardly be explained without social psychology.
